How To | Cover A Black Eye

So I like to keep it real on here and that involves me sharing my embarrassing drunk moments with you. Firstly I would just like to say, no I didn't get into a massive brawl and come out worst off. But long story short I ran passed someone just as they were swinging their arm around and bang... elbow right in the face. Anyway now I'm stuck with my first ever black eye and I'm gonna admit I'm feeling very sorry for myself. (I'm allowed I'm injured)

But I love a good excuse for a blogpost and it made me think about just how many people get into this situation, whether it's due to bad luck or a bad temper. Because unlike other bruises it's like RIGHT THERE on your face screaming at people to look at it and be shocked.

So without using any special treatments or anything I'm gonna attempt to cover it using basic makeup skills and show you the progress and outcome. Who knows, it could even have a killer smokey eye effect, gotta think about the positives people!

STEP 1:
Firstly I made sure I moisturised it and the rest of my face, I don't know why I just thought it would help. Then using Natural Collection's corrector stick in green, I covered the entire bruise and gently I repeat GENTLY! blend it in.

STEP 2:
Using your lightest concealer smother it all under your eye. I mean it use half the bottle if you must because you'd rather everyone think you're going overboard on the contour then have to explain yourself for the millionth time!

STEP 3:
Now if you have a darker concealer use it to try and defuse the whiteness but if not don't you worry, you can use foundation instead. I used a bit of both to "naturalise" the look.

STEP 4:
Now I'm looking a little more fresh i'll let you see my whole face! I then set some power over all the eye area so that it adds to the covering up as well as making sure all the other products stay in place!

STEP 5:
The final step is to add a little glow back into your face. Obviously it's not nice getting hurt so you're gonna be a bit pale and fragile but bronze it up and you'll be good to go!(at least for a few hours until you have to touch it up)

Black eye? what black eye? ;)
I hope this helps all of you who aren't the best at handling your booze

November Detox | The Grey Jumpers

Between the spooky parties of Halloween and the festivities of Christmas, lies little cold November. Our first month off since summer and the perfect time to just take it easy and prepare for December.

I call this a detox month because it's my detox from colour, the transition from autumn to winter. This year in particularly i've noticed a little bit of a trend.....when I say a trend I mean a pretty much identical occurrence. I like grey, grey jumpers to be precise.

Now you may be thinking whats the problem with liking or having grey jumpers? How about having five. That's right I brought five different grey jumpers on five separate occasions in the past year. If that doesn't scream "i've got a bit of an obsession" i don't know what does.

Top to bottom: H&M, Topshop, H&M, Forever21, Cotton On

Being the neutral between black and white, grey is the perfect shade (was going to say colour but I remembered all those people who used be like "IT'S NOT A COLOUR ITS A SHADE").

It's subtleness can make your outfit blend into the winter morning. You can dress grey up but personally I prefer to keep it beautifully simple. With a small silver chain and black jeans you are keeping it basic yet looking rather chic.

Textures are just as different as colours and very noticeable with grey. From knitted wool to soft fluffy cotton, a noticeable texture can proved that little touch your outfit needs to be perfect.

Now comes to my explanation for having five, firstly each one is different: a hoodie, a sleeveless one, one is longer at the back, a fluffy one and a knitted one. Secondly it goes amazingly well with black and we all know that many of us live in black jeans or leggings as soon as it gets cold.

Maybe the grey reminds me of snow? or maybe I just want to give my wardrobe a slight change from all the black? Whatever the reason it's happened and I'm not mad about it, in fact I want to encourage you who don't have one to give it a try. xx

Halloween Treats | Cupcakes and Jelly Shots

Not only is halloween about dressing up but getting drunk and eating yummy food is also a must. What could possibly be better than cupcakes and jelly shots? Throw in some festive Halloween decorations and you've got yourself the perfect party treats!

Halloween Cupcakes

What you need:

Basic vanilla cupcake ingredients

Spooky cupcake cases (poundland) Ready to use black icing and orange food colouring (Tesco)

Firstly

Bake your cupcakes, I'm not going to bother writing it all out here, you should know how to make cupcakes but if not just Google it.

Leave them to cool while you get onto the serious business

Roll out about a third of a pack of the black icing, make sure you flour the rolling pin before but try and use as little as possible since it will turn the black into a grey.

Cut out a load of triangles, trying to keep them the same size but if not it's not the end of the world. These will be your pumpkins eyes so make sure theres enough for 2 on each cake.

Using the same icing, roll out your icing again if there isn't enough space. Cut out little mouths for your cakes you can do the same or different styles for each cake. This is very fiddly and takes ages but I promise you it's worth it.

Make some butter icing by mixing icing sugar and butter together until it's nice a thick. Slowly add in drops of the food colouring so it spreads evenly and mix until you like the colour. To get it this orange we used a whole tube of it.

Assemble all your decorations once the cupcakes have cooled completely on top (otherwise this will turn into a big orange mess) We piped icing for 3 of the cakes and released we didn't have enough icing for that luxury so we just spooned on the rest.

Then stick on your triangles and mouths evenly while the icing is still wet.

And tada, the cutest little pumpkins you've ever seen!

Spooky Shots

What You Need:

Peach Schnapps (any alcohol) , Halloween (gummy worms/teeth), Blackcurrant Jelly (you can also use orange or apple jelly as they are halloweeny colours too), Bowl and Shot Glasses.

Firstly make jelly how you normally would by mixing it with half a pint of boiling water. Instead of pouring another half pint of cold water which is what your supposed to do, mix a 1/4 pint of cold water with 1/4 pint of Peach Schnapps. This makes the jelly set normally but still have that alcoholic kick!

Throw your gummy's into the mix to make it a little more festive and let the jelly set over night or for a few hours.

Set aside some gummy's for a little decor later ;)

You could pour the jelly mixture into the shot glasses firstly and let them set in there but it's actually super hard to actually get the jelly out. Instead we spooned the set jelly into the glasses.

Yeah that decor I mentioned earlier really saves this shot, otherwise it'll just look like a normal jello shot but now its magically festive!

Happy Halloween xx

Sunday Thoughts | How To Not Screw Up Your Life

Recently a lot of questions about the future seem to keep cropping up on me, what do you want to do? Where do you want to live? How are you going to get a job? It's honestly terrifying. Not because I don't think great things are going to happen, but simply due to the fear of the unknown. I've decided to write a few tips that I think prevent me from going into a spiral of decay.

Don't Rush

Apparently peer pressure is at it's peak during high school but I call bullshit. Pressure about the future can be a lot worse. Thinking of taking a gap year? "Oh they're not taking this seriously" Not being able to find a job? "They aren't trying hard enough" and so on. It may seem like you're being rushed but honestly take some time to really think about what you want to do and who you want to be, nothing is worse then waking up to the realisation that you're unhappy with who you've become.

Be Confident Not Egotistic

By all means embrace your best assets and the things that make you individual but don't get cocky about it. Confidence shows you know what you're doing, you enjoy what you're doing and people will see that. But being egotistic and bringing people around you down won't make you any better at what you do.

Dream Big

Having a big dream that you strive towards gives you something to wake up for, something to try your best for. Fair enough you may never become the multimillionaire bachelorette you dream of but you should damn well try. Average dreams get average results.

Forgive Yourself / Respect Your Choices

For me personally this is such an important mindset to have. Everyone does silly things and you may look back and think, "what the hell was I thinking"? But you have to respect that you wanted to do that at the time so whatever the outcome be confident with your choice.  You can't rely on other people to understand you or forgive you but if you can rely on yourself life becomes a lot easier.

Don't Compare Yourself To Others

I get compared to so much by other people that if I did it myself I'd probably go a little crazy. It's so easy to look at someone's life and think, "well they've got their shit together" but that's not always the case, remember that we only post what we want other people to see on social media.

Choose Your Friends Wisely

It's so easy to get caught up in social groups and tell people all about your goals and ambitions. But not everyone will be supportive. A handful of people who love and care about you is worth much more then an roomful of people who mock you.

I'm thinking about making "Sunday Thoughts" a frequent thing where I just write about what's on my mind at that time. Let me know what you think? xx

7 Stages Your Hair Goes Through On a Night Out

Everybody loves a killer hairstyle on a night out, they picture that scene from Mean Girls where they are strutting through the corridor looking hot as .....  But the truth is cute hair, club music and alcohol really don't mix well together. So here are the 7 stages your hair goes through on a night out:

1.  The Fresh Do

You've mastered the hair donut (As best you can) and you're feeling confident, sassy and ready to take on the night. Also you've put in about a million pins so it will FOR SURE stay in place, right?

2. The Tipsy: "this will make it even better"

This stage usually happens before you even step foot out of the door and you've had one to many pre drinks. After you've seen all your friends hairstyles and you feel that yours just needs that little bit extra.

3. The Disaster

When your jam comes on in the club your hair is the last thing on your mind, let the head banging commence and the hair fall out. Don't even bother trying to find your pins.

4. The "this looks just as good"

Screw hair donuts anyway I don't need them, the high pony is so underrated I can own this hairstyle. Little do you know you actually look like your off to school.

5. The Excepting Your Fate

It's just all gotta come out, I'm never going to do my hair for a night out again its just such a waste of time. All I wanted to do was just look cute FOR ONCE.

6. The Drunk Bathroom Play Around

It needs some more volume, guys love the sexy just got out of bed look! Let me just scratch my head back and forth and shake it around a bit, I don't care if I look crazy JUST MAKE ME BEAUTIFUL.

7. The F#%K It

I can't even be bothered with you anymore, me and you are over hair this is it, first thing tomorrow I'm chopping you off and there NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

How does your hair treat you on nights out? xx

Maintaining Your Inner Zen

I don't know about you, but I'm quite an energetic, overemotional, stressful person on the inside which is quite unhealthy because, well you're with yourself constantly and need to make sure your mind has some time to relax.

Little things like how many likes your selfie got or whether you embarrassed yourself that one time 3 years ago, they are such unimportant thoughts but yet they always hover around you while your trying to relax or sleep. Unless your part of the lucky few who can turn off their thoughts at night, then you can spend hours getting lost in all these silly memories.

Now I'm not writing this to tell you how to "switch it off" if that is even possible, because if I knew trust me they would be off permanently! But since I'm at the point in my life where i've stopped and thought "wtf am I doing with my life?"  I had to find some ways to calm myself before I internally combusted.

Music

I don't mean throw on some Tyler Swift and dance around your room, but if that makes you feel better then why not? I mean some calming mixes that help you concentrate when you're studying. Music is a very personal preference though so I won't expect you all to like this, but I find this mix really helps to calm me down. https://www.youtube.com/watchv=ysx9BVYlUY4&list=LMgYo6nGCPuYn-kYlZWQxmJw

Light Candles

Theres just something about watching the flickering of fire thats really soothing to your mind, so well as an amazing smells and the conscious idea of warmth... just perfect.

Avoid Getting Angry/Frustrated

This is honestly the most difficult one but if you're pissed off about something just sit down and calmly think about it because if you get angry it'll just fuel your inner fire, which you may regret later.

Have A Happy Place

I don't want to sound like I'm crazy here, but you know when everything just seems to be getting way to overwhelming and you feel out of control. Distancing your mind from all that negativity and tension really makes you think a lot clearer. Although don't think about anything sad because then you'll cry and have a mental breakdown making you even more overwhelmed.

No Toxic Thoughts

This is the second hardest one to do, we all know everyone can't resist a good bitchathon, but after a very long time i've realised what you say about others really does reflect on how you're feeling deep down in the inner core of your mind. And also you have the constant fear that you're gonna get caught out.

Breath To The Rhythm of the Ocean

Just reading that title makes me cringe like I'm some wanna be guru. But seriously it works, the slow rhythm makes your heart rate slow down while your mind is distracted with thoughts of blue waves crashing down, you honestly just pass out within 3 minuets.

I hope this kinda helps if you tend to be a little bit of an overthinking like myself xx

Brow Down To Me

Now i've only just recently stated to realize that eyebrows are an important part of your face, everyone sees them all the time and that kinda freaks me out. Your eyebrows control a large part of your facial expression and with good brows comes big responsibility.

I only started plucking my eyebrows after some girl came up to me and sarcastically said "your eyebrows are so nice do you pluck them?" I legit looked at my brows for an hour that day thinking they were horrible hairy caterpillars. After that  started plucking.....a lot. One day I got so crazy about how bad they were I plucked nearly all of them out and was stuck with thin little sticks above my eyes that my brother laughed at. So as you can guess I was a little stuck for what my next brow move should be. Before year 11 prom my friend took me to her beauty centre I would say spar but it really wasn't like one. She told me I should get my brows threaded, which I thought thought was a very strange way to remove hair but I went along with it because why not? And yes my eyes watered extreme amounts that every working there laughed at me and yes they were all red and puffy. But once that all went away they were perfect!

So now i've said my goodbyes to the tweezers and leave my eyebrows to the professionals and for only 4 pound at Superdrug once a month it's a really easy way to maintain them.

Before threading them:

After threading them:

As you can see they are so much neater and the shape is more defined making your look fierce.

Now for my eyebrow routine, I don't do this everyday because i don't wear makeup everyday but when  I feel like looking like a badass then i'll step my eyebrow game up to the next level using only 3 products.

I normally leave my brows till the end of my makeup routine so I can work out how dark or structured they need to be.

Firstly I take an brow brush, usually they are on the end of an eyebrow pencil as a little 2 in 1 kinda thing. I brush them all neat and in place making sure there are no little stray hairs affecting my game!

Then taking my Maybelline 'Master Shape' brow pencil in the shade soft brown (they also do lighter and darker shades). I fill my eyebrows in from the start so they look fuller and a little darker for a stand out look. I then fill in any gaps in the rest of my brow and draw a little more shape into it so that it looks more defined.

Then its back to the brush to smudge the pencil into the brow so that it all looks like natural beauty (no one needs to know ;) )

Now I promise I'm not sponsored by Maybelline or anyone for that matter but I used their "Brow Drama' sculpting brow mascara in medium brown. This helps your eyebrows to stay in place throughout the day as it gently places them down on your face.

Now for the final step. Using any white eyeshadow place a shadow line underneath your brow so that it contrasts with the darkness of your eyebrow and gives it the finishing touch of definition that it needs to make you look hot as hell!

And the finishing look:

I hope you all feel as beautiful as you are. Don't let anyone tell you differently xx
