New Hair New Me

I feel like hair is more than just something to keep your head warm or make you look nicer, it represents your personality and how you want people to portray you. After a lifestyle change or traumatic event people always seem to change the hair.

I've never been a huge fan of getting a dramatic cut, I cut my hair short once and the hairdresser made it look like a mullet! Since then I have be terrified to have anything more than just a trim done to my hair. But it's been about 3 years and I was sick of having my long hair get tangled in the wind and having no control over what it's doing. So I cut it off, and not just a little....ALOT.

Introducing my new hair:

It's short, it's choppy and I'm absolutely in love with it! I'm usually one of those girls who run out the salon crying if the tiniest amount gets taken from me, but this time I walked out with a smile and a skip in my step. Not only is my hair gone but so are all the worries and stresses it came with, can people see my spilt ends? do I look mousey? how can everyone style their hair so well? These questions are all gone because now I feel confident, i have a look that i've been contemplating since i started university and I honestly feel like a new me. So yes I agree with the saying "New Hair, New ME" because now I'm going to be more daring with my style choice, I ripped the bandage off and now I'm healed!

So if you're thinking about having a dramatic change, to your hair or your life, just go for it! you gotta think, what's the worst that could happen? xx

Rainy Sunday Afternoon: Blogger Addition

Ever since I can remember, Sunday has always been a day of relaxing and taking some time for myself, and being at university is no exception! Since today is rainy and dull, it was extremely hard to get out of bed this morning (this afternoon to be truthful) but the idea of a yummy breakfast eventually did the trick.

Having been reasonably healthy all week (apart from a mid week trip to Toby Carvery but shh ;) ) I decided to go all out and make a delicious stack of chocolate chip pancakes for brunch. Don't worry, I didn't eat all of them! Check here for the recipe: http://www.marthastewart.com/338185/basic-pancakes

A nice long hot shower is one of life's greatest gifts, so I treated myself to a nice pamper in the shower. I usually do a deep condition so my hair is nice for the start of the week, as well as using a good body scrub and moisturize after so you feel smooth and relaxed for the day.

No chill out day is complete without comfy slipper socks to make you feel nice and toasty while the wind howls outside (at least thats what its doing here in Sunderland!).

And now i'm sitting here writing this post while listening to some seriously chill music with a yummy salted caramel flavored candle burning (so happy you don't gain calories through your nose)

This has got to be my favorite way to spend a Sunday, now I just need to put on a face mask and pop the kettle on, then it'll be perfect!

Happy Sunday everyone! what's you're idea of the perfect Sunday?xx

Oliver Goldsmith's Sunglass Collection

I'm very much not a history person, but when it comes to fashion history i'll make an exception. I find it fascinating to know where all our outfit inspiration and designs come from and whether the past has helped shape our style choices today. So when I discovered this hidden gem of a collection in the building next to my university I couldn't wait to take my camera out and show you guys some of the dazzling glasses featured in the mini museum.

Oliver Goldsmith was a very popular family-run glasses business in the 20th century, stars such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly were renowned for wearing their glasses. He was the first person to see sunglasses as an extra fashion accessory, which is why his deigns are so flamboyant and unique compared to sunglasses we have today. He worked alongside designer brands such as Dior and Givenchy to produce beautiful and unusual statement pieces, which got him featured multiple times in Vogue. Take a look!

As much as these are beautiful, I don't think i'd ever have the courage to actually wear them, but they are very pretty to look at.

The address for this mini museum is:

Liberty Way, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear SR6 oGL, United Kingdom

What do you think about this collection, to extreme or the perfect statement piece? Thank you for reading xx

Soap&Glory VS Victoria's Secret

These companies specialize in very different things so it's impossible to compare the unique beauty treatments and skin care line that is Soap&Glory with the glamorous underwear line that is Victoria's Secret. But what we can compare is the fabulous smelling products that both these companies produce.

I have been a fan of both these companies for many years and i've never thought of comparing them until the other day. I was using my Soap&Glory body scrub in the shower for the first time and I honestly wanted to eat it, it smelt that good! Once I was out the shower it was moisturizing time I imminently went for my all time favorite scent, Victoria's Secret "Coconut Passion"and thats when I thought, "will these scents go together? which one will be more powerful?" So I decided to do a little competition.

Soap&Glory

Out of the whole range of Soap&Glory products I have chosen to talk about their Famous Righteous Butter and Award Winning Breakfast Scrub. This is because they have such unique scents and are both very foody especially the Breakfast Scrub. They both contain shea butter which is a gorgeous rich nutty flavor, that helps you relax as well as being extremely moisturizing. The Breakfast Scrub is exactly what it smells like, fresh oats drizzled in maple syrup and coated with bananas and nuts, the perfect healthy breakfast thats even healthier for your skin! Although the scent of the Righteous Butter is a little harder to explain, it contains aloe vera which gives it a very refreshing scent and along with the shea butter gives the perfect combination of rich and fresh. I love these scents because they are very natural and I don't worry about putting these on my skin.

Victoria's Secret

Much like their extravagant shows and beautiful models that make you want to crawl into a cave and never come out, Victoria's Secret has some of the most delicious scents, they've dreamed up the perfect combinations to produce such glamours perfumes and sprays. I have tried many of their products and even had my signature scent be their "Coconut Passion" spray last year. But once I got to university there wasn't a store nearby so I used other perfumes, my love for them came back when I got a 6 set of mini sprays and creams for christmas including my favorite! They are very vanilla based and may even be a little sweet for some peoples liking, but they are very long lasting and like I said before very delicious. Although they don't smell very natural as they are far to strong and sweet, but the products are very gentle on your skin as their moisturizer is very light and more perfumey than most.

Overall the winning of the best scent competition has to be Victoria's Secret because they are by far the longest lasting and have the largest range of fabulous smells. But if it's the power of the product you're looking for, it has to be Soap&Glory because it leaves your skin feeling moist and silky smooth every time.

What do you prefer to use, do you agree or disagree? leave a comment :) xx

Statement Coats and Jackets

Since I'm studying in Sunderland, coats are still very much a necessity if I want to stay warm when being outside. I've seen a lot of different styles and patterns on the catwalks my favorite being PPQ's Autumn/ Winter 2013 collection of vibrant, bold and colourful winter coats.  When wearing a coat like this you don't need to dress it up with jewelry or a fancy purse, as the coat speaks for itself. The neon yellows and fluorescent pinks featured on the catwalk were accompanied by bold patterns and daring cuts to make the show and outfits more extravagant.

I decided to purchase my own extravagant coat, a little less designer and a little more high-street. I was looking for patterns rather than colour as a personal preference,  I've always been a huge fan of leopard print and ever since Harry Styles wore a Burberry leopard print shirt to The London Fashion Week last year, it seems that everything now comes in black, white and leopard print. I thought I struck gold when I popped into Miss Selfridge and found a gorgeous leopard print coat had been reduced from £75 to just £25 as well as it being the last one available in my size! So without a doubt I snatched it up and carried it around with me all day, and of course taking it out the bag to stare at it on the train home.

Since yesterday was my first time wearing it, I wanted to do a little outfit of the day and share my excitement with you all. I paired the coat with a long sleeved black dress, black tights and brown boots so that the coat would stand out and accessorize my outfit for me.

And of course, Sunderland being Sunderland the wind caused a lot of retakes! Hope you enjoyed this post xx
